Urban Decay's Naked and Naked 2 Palette Review

Hello lovelies! My name is Victoria, my very good friend Marie asked if I could post something on here, specifically Urban Decay's Naked palettes which are extremely popular here in the United States! Although they are a bit pricey here in the US (currently $54 here!) many people manage to get their hands on one of these palettes. The Naked 3 palette was just released in early 2014, and I was looking forward to getting a hold of it as well, but to me, the theme of the colors displayed were not very appealing to me. Most were like a tan/gold shade and I knew I wouldn't make much use of it. I purchased both the Naked and Naked 2 palettes more than a year ago, and although I have used them everyday during the school year, there is so much product still left! I barely dented the eye shadows yet I use them almost every day.

You see that the Naked palette is covered in a felt-velvet material, and is only held by a magnet. Both have mirrors in the inside (Naked 2 mirror takes up the entire inner cover of the case) while the Naked 2 palette is an all-metal compact case that snaps shut. If you had to choose a palette you could throw in a travel bag and not worry about opening up and making a mess of your clothes and other items, I recommend the Naked 2 palette. It is very durable (tons of dents on the back and corners from dropping it! Never once has it broken open though) and stays closed, unlike the Naked palette, which is flimsy and can be quite messy. I only recommend it if you will keep the palette in one place and it won't be taken anywhere.

The colors of the Naked palette vary greatly, with some being more matte (Virgin, Naked, and Buck) while some very shimmery with quite a visual impact (Sidecar, Half-Baked, Smog, and Toasted). The colors I used the most were Virgin, Sin, Sidecar and Toasted, as they have more of a neutral tone that can go well with any outfit. I almost never used the dark shimmery Creep, as I never really go for a smokey eye look.

On the Naked 2 palette, I actually popped out the Blackout color (it was identical to Creep) since I knew I would never use it and the powder of it cracked and dirtied up the other eye shadows. I absolutely adore the Naked 2 palette, I use all of the remaining colors in it and it is a great eye shadow palette to get if you just want to keep one at home or one to bring during traveling. The brush you get with it, unlike the original Naked palette, is a double-ended brush that is very high in quality. The packaging of this product gets an A++ from me! not like the flimsy, messy packaging of the other palette (although the colors in that one are absolutely beautiful as well). I did some swatches of the Naked 2 palette for you all to see how they looked! The shades could be built on to have a more dramatic effect, and they don't fade easily throughout your day.

Both of these palettes last a very, very long time, I know it will be a long time until I use up all of the product, so I think with the quality, it is definitely worth the price! Urban Decay's eye shadows are the best eye shadows I have ever used, and as someone who lives near and visits New York City very often, I can say that I've tried many brands of popular cosmetics. I also had the wonderful opportunity of taking a spring course two years ago at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for Cosmetics and Fragrance, so I learned so much there when it comes to cosmetics and what makes a good makeup product. I hope you all enjoyed this review, comment if you have any questions or comments!

Ang alam ko lang 'palette' is yung 'paleta' na ginagamit sa pangmasilya.. ha,ha,ha... Thanks Victoria, for educating me about this palette. MG will definitely love having this beauty kit.

I haven't had the chance to use any Urban Decay make up, but I imagine it's awesome seeing that there are a lot of people raving about it.

One thing I'm concerned about is the shelf life, though, since from what I understand, eye shadows should only be stored up to two years (for hygiene).

I'm not really an expert when it comes to eye shadows, so your review is really helpful. Now I know what brand to purchase when I'm ready to experiment with my eyes. Thanks!

You're very welcome! Urban Decay has the best eyeshadows in my opinion!

Urban Decay is the best eyeshadow brand I have tried so far! Yes I do agree, but keeping your makeup in a cool dry area helps with the shelf life I think :)
